David Goldberg and Eric Hoddersen 11/29/2007

We drove to Conneaut to fish the day. The conditions were sunny, low and gin clear water. I friend told me of a new river access point that I never used before. I found it and we walked right to the river following ATV trails. We spent about a half day fishing there and caught fish, nothing big. Dave landed the most and even my leader material which had fallen unknowingly out of my vest and floated past him.  Eric hooked and landed his first fish on his very first cast. The most memorable for the day was a big sliver Dave hooked and lost no fault of his own, it broke the hook in half on a jump/run. I was so mad at myself because it was my fault. I'd purchased a  box of hooks that were braking and thought I'd gotten rid of them, I missed one for sure.

We started back to the trucks which turned out to be more difficult than I'd expected. We could not figure out which ATV path to take.  We choose a few wrong ones that led us to a ravine we could not cross. We saw the trucks but didn't know how to get to them. And finally, Eric led us out.

I brought lunch which we ate before going to our next stop. We fished the rest of the day there looking at a log pile in the tail-out. We hadn't seen another fisherman all day which was a first. We caught fish, lost fish before starting our 20-minute hike out. About halfway out, Eric discovered he'd lost the top section of his fly rod somewhere along the way, He and I went back to look for it while Dave stayed with our equipment. We had to hurry, it was getting dark fast and we had no flashlight. I found the section 10- minutes later where we had gotten out of the water. We started back to find Dave in almost darkness.  Dave was easy to spot with his orange stocking hat I'd gave to him, he glowed in the dark. Why the orange hats you ask? It was dear season and I didn't want anyone to get mistaken for a dear. Today was truly a great adventure and not your normal one.

Thanks Guys!
